  •  And this is the difference (12+ / 0-)

between progressives and non: Many of us understand that living well doesn't require a lot of money and even if we had a lot of money, we'd give it away to those who truly need and deserve that money.

My wife and I, too, have spoken about winning the lottery and the top item on our list is to give the majority of the money away to those in need.

I can't imagine greed would feel that good.

This is it. I've found it. I'm in hell. - Ouiser Boudreaux

    •  Besides that (4+ / 0-)

at some point it's just numbers. When you have enough to literally never have to lift a finger, and to get anything your heart desires, why do you need more?

It's just numbers. The numbers go up or down, and don't have any real impact on how you live.

    •  My husband does this as well, I am far too much (3+ / 0-)

of a realist and I admit, far too concerned that we are struggling financially. I like when we discuss options for better jobs. My husband prefers to dream and that is cool too.  In fact, I love that about him but he is not practical at all and he never worries about anything. I wish I could be more like that. But as my late parents said, it is good when one is a dreamer and one is practical in a marriage, it balances things out.

My husband would try to get my Dad to do this with him but my Dad said he would not want a new house or a new car or much of anything if he won the lottery.  He said he might his kids and Mom a new car but he would invest the rest and save it.  He said he would not spend it as there was nothing he wanted. He would give to charity more and help others.

My husband would be very generous too but he dreams of not working at all.

      •  I try playing the lottery 'what if'... (0+ / 0-)

but I always end up a little stressed trying to make sure I divvy things up properly with my loved ones, even though it's just a mental diversion. :)

For me - a nicely appointed home recording studio. That's pretty much it, and I'd probably still drive my '98 Dakota...
