Yes, there's much to fault the Obama Administration for over the last few years. But the President didn't have the opportunity to cast a deciding vote on passing single-payer healthcare for tens of millions of people. These guys did, and they blew it on the big stage.

Obama is the sole reason healthcare reform is dead in the nation and in California. He took single payer off the table and did everything in his power (behind closed doors, natch!) to kill every semblance of a public plan to keep his promise to the hospital lobbyists - no public option, no single payer, and no expanded Medicare - all the while gladhanding the public and broadly grinning "I support the public option (suckers!)".

One of the reasons the 'gutless' (another euphemism) California Senators wouldn't support SB 810 is because, they said, we already have 'reform' in ACCA. And very likely Obama was twisting their arms behind the scenes to not overshadow his corporate-friendly baby. So for all of those who screamed down critics as 'purists' way back when, insisting that Obama's bill was the start of real reform, it turned out it was the END of real reform and you are part of the reason. So thanks Obama and Obama-supporters-with-trust-blinders-on - thanks for continued needless deaths by spreadsheets in the tens and hundreds of thousands, bankruptcies galore, and the relentless demise of the middle class.

Speaking out of one side of their mouth for the little guy, their nominal constituency, and the other for the plutocracy, their real constituency.
