California is quite wealthy. In fact, California is probably the wealthiest state in the country. The economic problems come from a minority in this state who are hoarding this wealth, and who refuse to help pay for rebuilding our infrastructure. California has an undemocratic, 2/3 requirement to raise levies, plus an outdated tax system that relies more and more on borrowing and regressive sales taxes. California used to have enviable public services, but as soon as the BROWN people were becoming the majority, older, white conservatives decided all of a sudden they didn't want to support the state anymore. Their selfishness and short-sightedness, coupled with the greed of corporations based here (corporations who tear up our highways with their commercial vehicles, use up water and sewage systems, use up our electrical grid, and benefit from an educated workforce, yet don't want to pay for any of that) are what has caused California to be destroyed.

The misguided and destructive initiative that started California on its road to fiscal ruin. Prop. 13 was the worst thing to ever happen to this state. It needs to be gotten rid of.
