who is mildly disturbed by the "it gets better" psas? I think it is so important for young people to hear voices of support and encouragement, but I also feel like it excuses homophobia and bigotry as just part of the bullshit that comes with being a kid (like "don't worry, when you grow up this kind of thing won't happen anymore" which is so not true), when the real problem is a system that needs to be destroyed: male supremacy/patriarchy.

Not meaning to hijack anything, btw. Feel free to ignore me. :)

reach any people who may be in crisis than worry about the details or meta of the way you do it.

Once you get them engaged and stabilized, then you can tell them 'er, actually, no it doesn't get better'.

Besides, it's actually true from the point of view of the people it's trying to reach. Many of whom have no support. By letting them know that they, in fact, do have access to some support.

Your line of thinking is the same thing that destroys the Left's and the Democrats message all too often. That everything ever stated must have full disclosure of all permutations of all possible outcomes. Some people are criticizing that Chrysler ad this way, for a topical example.

I was suicidal for much of my teen years. It wasn't about sexuality (I'm not gay) but about a lot of things.

Someone saying "it gets better" to me might have helped.
