  •  Hey, he just got confused. (4+ / 0-)

It's his local megachurch that's building a huge complex.  Minus the abortion clinic, of course, but with a crisis pregnancy cousneling service in which desperate, pregnant teenagers are counseled and brainwashed to have the baby (if they're white).

Don't laugh. There's one down here in GA that has a daycare, coffee shop and bookstore, plus a gym and bowling alley--lest you have to sweat in the company of heathens.

The Onion article was almost certainly intended as a spoof on megachurches.

Banksters are harmful for the same reason neutrinos are harmless: neither are inclined to share what they've got (wealth and energy, respectively)

But right-wing Christians tend to be fairly gullible.  I was in a romance group online where a very sweet but  equally naive Christian Mom posted  an e-mail she'd gotten froma friend in which a 5-year-old was quoted as serving Satan because "Jesus was a wuss".  The cause of the Satanic  moppet? He'd been reading Harry Potter.

We patiently explained to her that the article was from The Onion and was satire. And I pointed out that J.K. Rowling was a member in good standing of the CHurch of Scotland. And for good measure, I outed myself as a Wiccan and explained that Wicca doesn't worship Satan because we don't beeli8ve in him--he's part of Christian myth, not Wiccan. I don't think we convinced her that Harry was OK for kids, but at least we disproved the rightwing nonsense that reading a series of YA books will turn your kid into a baby-killing Satanist.
