Do these dinosaurs have to die on the job to get replaced?
Mark Shields' opinions are like receiving old radio shows that have traveled through space and somehow bounced back to Earth. Next up: Fibber Maggee and Molly.

    •  Notice a pattern in who's against Obama on this? (13+ / 0-)

Older white men nearing obsoletion. They've simply never quite made it through the social and cultural wars of the 60's-80's, and are basically stuck in Ozzie and Harriet's 1950's where your gay uncle stayed in the closet and the missus fetched her man a martini and slippers when he came home from the office.

Democrats who pile on with concern trolling when Obama has done exactly the right thing are Democrats who fear that they're obsolete.

Obama is a 21st Century politician with a 19th Century opposition party, trying to move a 20th Century party into the future (or even the present).  That's terrifically threatening, and more so when the leader is black, very skilled, very successful, and personally charming.

This is the endemic racism in our country - something embedded beneath cognition and very frightening to take into the light and deal with.   Old white guys grew up with "Once you go black you never go back", and that's driving a lot of the controversy on all of today's issues.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.
