  •  Point to one extreme politician on the left. (0+ / 0-)

There are none, they are the ones doing all the compromising.

That is why there is a very well liked diary on a democratic site that is touting republican policies from two decades ago.

Obama's October secret is that he would be a conservative in the Reagan days, and the crowd cheers.

Man do we need some extremists on the left right now.

The goal posts have shifted to right field in the last 30 years.

      •  Not all of them have. (0+ / 0-)

I think a lot of social positions have actually shifted to the left. I don't believe this is the result of politicians though, more like people fighting for their rights.

In Economics and Foreign Policy, we have drifted very far to the right, and I think that is because the Democrats keep accepting Republican talking points so that they can do what the diarist here is saying. Meanwhile, the Republicans keep tacking more and more to the right.

        •  They don't 'keep accepting talking points.' (0+ / 0-)

          They keep accepting cash.

The main players in both parties are bought and paid for.

There will be no economic democracy until this changes.

Obama's only real appeal to progressives is that he's sort-of center-right, which is better than being a bobble-headed freakazoid right-wing nutjob.

But that doesn't mean he's going to give most voters anything more than crumbs from the corporate table.

The corps are perfectly happy with Obama. His token noises about wealth redistribution will disappear after he's re-elected.

But really, if anyone wants economic democracy - secure well-paid work, employee co-ops, epic tax breaks for productive small businesses such as green energy outfits, significant New Deal-style stimulus spending - they're not going to get any of that from the mainstream Democrats.

"Be kind" - is that a religion?
