    and have donated in the past. We called the rescue group when we found a stranded otter pup on the beach near big Sur two years ago, and it's wonderful to know that mamas like Toola have helped to foster orphans over the years.

    I will spread the word in my California town.... perhaps there's some possibility of working with other states (like Oregon and Washington) that might also have sea otter populations?

      Apparently some otters occasionally wander down into Washington from Canada, but it's pretty rare. There are sea otters off of British Columbia, and Alaska, and California, and that's more or less it.

      And Alaska is busy trying its hardest to put up a bunch of new oil derricks that have the potential to kill off a lot of their otters, so I don't think we'll be finding a lot of help from there.
