    It's in the bill.  Look up the Colorado statutes that it's modifying and find the prescribed penalties.

      The bill creates a new article for offenses against pregnant women and their unborn children. The new offenses are unlawful termination of a pregnancy in the first degree, unlawful termination of a pregnancy in the second degree, unlawful termination of a pregnancy in the third degree, unlawful termination of a pregnancy in the fourth degree, vehicular unlawful termination of a pregnancy, and aggravated  vehicular unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

      The bill excludes from prosecution medical care for which the mother provided consent.

      The penalty for criminal abortion in which the woman does not die is increased from a class 4 felony to a class 3 felony.
      The bill makes conforming amendments.

      •  I think Iowa has a similar law. Iowa's law (4+ / 0-)

        came about when a pregnant woman was attacked by her ex.  He was trying to murder her and the baby with her.  She survived by the fetus did not.  He was charged with attempted murder and ended up with a 'light' sentence.  The woman and her family were pissed that the guy wasn't charged with the murder of the unborn child.  She was pretty far along in the pregnancy, but that's not the issue.

        So, in the state of Iowa, if you are the direct cause of harm to a woman that is pregnant and that harm causes a termination of the pregnancy, you will be charged with the murder of said unborn infant.  This is aimed at ex's who don't want to pay child support and get someone, or themselves, attack the woman, or causes the pregnancy termination through an action of another crime (bank robbery, auto accident during the commission of another crime, etc).

        ... because of R v W terminations are lawful.  So what is meant by "unlawful termination?
