    •  Cheney is one of the former Vice Presidents (3+ / 0-)

      of the United States.  He's got a plan unlike anyone else for that very fact alone.  What doctor, hospital or insurer is going to tell him no when he wants medical attention?  Which if any of those players would dare to allow themselves to be perceived as somehow having prevented him from getting platinum care - not just gold.

        I actually spent a few hours on the Internet on this issue yesterday. As a former VP, with a pension, Cheney can participate in the basic federal employee healthcare program, nothing more. The same is true for former Presidents. Now, I have no doubt that as a former VP he was moved up in the line to receive a new heart, but I am still guessing that it's Halliburton that is covering him, but it's a guess.
