Why should this principle -- I chose to do something more rewarding than work for pay -- only apply to people who choose to work in the home taking care of kids?

Why shouldn't it apply to people who want to "choose to work" playing guitar and drawing  sunsets?  Or garden in the home?  Or be full time political organizers?

I am all in favor of abolishing the working conditions that Marx in his 1848 Notebooks so rightly found to alienate people from themselves.  It sucks to work for pay for other people who control the means of production and who can dictate your working conditions.

Let's ask Ann Romney to join all of us in working to liberate everyone -- male and female; with kids or no -- from having to stoop to the degrading and alienating drudgery of working for an "employer."

Ask Ann to help us lose our chains.

This aggression will not stand, man.

how could she afford that type of cheap labor that lets her live a life of luxury and idleness?

Did you ever read Jeremy Rifkin's The End of Work or the tiny book he wrote in 1976 to celebrate the country's bicentennial?  In the smaller book he wrote about a business experiment.  The managers decided to stay away from the factory for a month to see what the workers would do when they were deprived of "management."

Well, what the workers did was to outperform all previous months.  Morale had never been higher.  The experiment was ended by management because they had egg on their collective faces.
