  •  My husband has a disability and has the permit (16+ / 0-)

Sometimes he uses his cane, but for quick stops in the store, he leaves it behind, especially if he knows the store has wheelchairs. (He loves driving those things.)

A few times I've noticed people looking at him and glancing to the car to check for the card hanging from the mirror.

Once i told a guy, "Don't look at the car, look at his shoes."  My husband wears obvious orthopedic shoes, sometimes he wears a brace under his pants, sometimes he needs a back brace.

I just check to make sure the cars have permits.

By myself, I pull into the first spot I see.  My daughter told me this a long time ago.  "I'm not handicapped, nor do I have small children.  I can walk the distance to the store."

Growing old is inevitable...Growing up is purely optional
