  •  Willful Blindness (22+ / 0-)

Fox news is constantly ignoring the facts, or using incorrect facts, knowing they are doing this.  This is an example of "Willful Blindness"

"Willful Blindness" is the standard operating procedure of Fox News.  This in itself means Fox News is not News, but opinion, and incorrect at that.

The FCC use to limit how many stations a single company or person could own and operate.  That rule that kept our news relevant, and competitive changed.  When did it change ?  When January 22, 2001 – January 21, 2005
    Under President Bush.

He advocated an updating of media ownership rules to reflect new communications technologies such as the Internet, a move that critics derided as increasing rampant media consolidation.
Powell resigned as Chairman of the FCC on January 21, 2005

Cable or Pay Television is free from FCC rules, so even if today the FCC were to revise the rules they may not apply to Fox News or any cable or sat.

We need a new FCC.  We do.  We need a new judge to evaluate those who use "willful Blindness" as their way of operating.  It's time to make this change.

the FCC has very limited to no regulatory oversight of them.

Fox ENTERTAINMENT is a different entity, and I'm pretty sure that's the one that runs the local BROADCAST stations. Those stations don't run Fox News either. Most of the broadcast stations run only local news. They let ABC/NBC/CBS handle the national news that is on broadcast stations.

I agree with you on the consolidation point. I don't think corporations should be allowed to own multiple media in the same area - you have TV, you can't have newspapers or radio. You have radio, you can't have TV or newspapers.

And it goes without saying that you can't have more than a small percentage of any kind of media in an area, unless there's only one of something.

I doubt it will happen. But it USED to be somewhat like that.

....sad for us, but true. Perhaps Fox News' nogoodhorrible etc. day may come, but it wont be though the Media Committee's report or the Leveson Inquiry.

All this is regularly discussed over at Murdoch Investigators, with lots of help from people who understand the legal limits and, I should say, possibilities, from BSOP (both sides of the pond).

        Join us, why don'cha?
