    Now hug each other.

    Love each other.

    Be good to each other.

A few years ago I held vigil for my roomate's kitty, Greedy. He was solid gray with a slight liver cast, which (with his constant vocalizing) suggests he was part Siamese. He was a sweet kitty--just loud.

Unfortunately, my roomate was running on fumes financially, so was unwilling to take him to the pet ER on a weekend, despite our belief that he was nearing the end. After she left for work, I found him huddled in a corner in the hall bathroom (mine).  He was nesting for death. I tried to keep him warm and comfortable. I offered him treats and water. He wouldn't touch anything.

All day long I visited him on the floor and stroked him and talked to him. Later, I discovered his spot empty and searched to find him under my roomate's bed. After she got home, I left his care to her--I was worn out. I found out the next morning that he passed around 1 am.

I'm sorry if this is hijacking--your Huck was far more important to you than the couple of years I spent with my roomate's Greedy. But being there for an animal companion at the end is hard. It's heartbreaking. I remember when we had to put my first dog to sleep (I think I was 12)--he was a toy Dachsund with back problems--likely because of inbreeding here in Southern California.

Take care of yourselves. And hold your "Pest" in your hearts--nothing can take that away.

(That sound you are hearing is a paradigm being shifted at Warp Factor Infinity using no clutch.)
