  •  You start by forcing a Media Cartel breakup. (23+ / 0-)

Every single ray in the American political spectrum despises, and strongly, Corporate Media.

Excepting the 1%, because the media -- even the entertainment apparatus -- exists mainly to raise testosterone, adrenaline, and for variety, endorphins. The main object to is keep the people from having as little say in their self-governance as possible.

So you start with demanding the FCC, which has absolute authority under law in these kinds of matters, establish a one owner, one outlet, one market rule in place of the current rules which allows the Media Cartels to basically control 90%+ of what the public sees and hears.

You form an issue-coalition on forcing these five or six companies to sell off into thousands of locally owned outfits. And there you start having democracy in the public square again. (Note: "start.")

Speaking for myself, I don't want their money. I want them to stop stealing ours. I don't mind someone rich if they live kindly to all their circles.

Anger and frustration can lead the undisciplined to want to strike out without considering the consequences. If anyone wants to go toe-to-toe with the 1%, they should realize that the 1% can make an entire city burn in a day, while they never even leave their villas.

You got to take the lynchpin of their whole structure down first, and that's the de facto monopoly on instant, mass-reach media.

The Internet is just the tail of the Corporate Media dog.

      and the corporations, too.

Remove the cap on social security tax, tax capital gains at the same rate as earned income, and make corporations pay taxes instead of offshoring their wealth.

Skepticism of all the elite institutions, not trust, is what required for successful leadership in this era. Digby
