Thank you for telling us about Charlotte's latest journey. I have added both of you to my morning meditation, Charlotte so that her final days may be peaceful and pain free, you so that you find comfort in having known the friendship of this remarkable woman.

For all of us, I pray for a miracle so that we may have more time to celebrate Charlotte's life with her.

to determine whether she just needs better pain management or if this is the "next step."  I'm sure the hospice nurse will be able to give them good guidance on that.  I gave her daughter a few suggestions about what questions to ask and ways that I've figured out to do my meds without getting dopey.  We'll just have to see...

The problem is that she hasn't been exactly compliant with the meds.  I didn't realize how she was messing around or I'd have given her a little pep talk.  I think she would eventually get used to the side effects, but she doesn't like feeling out of control.  I don't blame her, but that's a rotten way to manage pain.

I, too, hope that we can share a few more chats with her.  I'm just a selfish old(ish) biddy, though....

      •  My dad did this. So he yo-yo'd. If he had given (0+ / 0-)

morphine a chance the fuzziness would have passed in a few days, while relieving pain and distress.

We had some difficulties but the time was thankfully short.

You are wonderful for caring for your friend and one so cherished by many.

I am sorry I didn't see this earlier, but thank you so much.

Science is hell bent on consensus. Dr. Michael Crichton said “Let’s be clear: The work of science has nothing to do with consensus... which is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right,”
