  •  You haven't heard there's no ammo left to buy? (11+ / 0-)

I'm surprised that the BBH didn't tie this in to the contract Homeland Security has to purchase 450 million rounds of ammunition, which will basically clean out all the ammunition that would be available on the free market. Or something like that, according to conspiracy theorists.

The sheer scale of the 450 million rounds proves that the plan is set to turn the federal DHS guns on the American people, because why on earth would DHS need so much ammunition?

It isn't even the kind that any sensible person would use for practice, since the cheaper kind works just as well and costs less. (I take this to be confirmation that even serious practicing wingnuts think that the Obama Administration would not waste taxpayer money by having agents practice with the more expensive ammo.)

It turns out that, according to the Wall Street Journal, a company called ATK does have a contract with DHS and ICE to supply a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years.

But lest anyone fear there will be none left for private buyers, the same company has sold something like 11 billion rounds to the military in the last decade or so.

It sounds like this company manufacturers a lot of ammunition, and no doubt could produce even more to meet market demand from anxious wingnuts.

I'd try to reassure them that they'll be able to procure ammo, but they wouldn't believe that ATK will make more if there's a market for it.
