  •  All by themselves... (16+ / 0-)

You reminded me of Bad Kitties's first diary here, when she said:

I was a nice, nonpolitical suburban Republican housewife with a husband, two kids, a dog, a cat, and two fish, plus a garden...until the War on Women started. To me, it began with Susan G. Komen's defunding of Planned Parenthood. I immediately donated to Planned Parenthood, joined their Action Fund, and joined a Facebook group called De-Fund the Komen Foundation.
They may have awakened a sleeping giant.

Take my vote for granted at your peril.

    •  I think you are right. How many woman (7+ / 0-)

joined the Susan G. Komen walk to fight breast cancer, many, many women. Do you think they joined because they felt it should be political, I don't. They joined because they knew or know someone who is fighting or died from breast cancer, there are far too many of those people. Many of them died because they were not diagnosed early enough, when word got out about Planned parenthood, woman are not stupid, they know that Planned Parenthood is responsible in many cases, especially cases of poor women in early detection of breast cancer which can lead to it being cured. I think it did more than waken a sleeping giant, I think it made them crazy to think an organization who says they want to eliminate breast cancer would do something like this.
It was no surprise the woman who initiated this defunding of P.P. was a Republican operative. LIke all republicans she thought women are "stupid", well because they are just women, and she thought she could slip this under the radar, boy was she surprised, and now she is out of a job. How did that saying in the 70's go, "Don't mess with MOTHER nature"?
