    You see, up to that point all I had seen were public displays of flamboyance and overt sexuality that were gay pride parades and protest.
    do you feel the same shock and revulsion during mardi gras? or carnival? on the infield at nascar races?

      Where I grew up, we didn't have Mardi GRAS

      Had I grown up seeing that, I probably would have leveled off sooner! I was only privy to anecdotal testimony in adulthood.

      I have no interest in NASCAR, although it is highly popular among my family.

        regardless of where you grew up, you saw footage at some point of a mardi gras celebration...and you saw the same type of titillating footage that you would have seen from a pride parade.

        nascar isn't a sleight, either (go, mark martin!)...the point is to pick any public gathering of a boisterous celebratory nature where large amounts of alcohol are involved and you'll see crass behavior.

        behavior that knows no bounds based on orientation.
