"data driven" and "scientifically based knowledge / research" as weapons against fools in control of what they should not be in control of.

For the most part, in special ed, decisions are not being made based on either the child's data or on the science of what works best for these kids, and I have and will continue to use those phrases "the data shows...." and "the science demands that we ..." and "do you have the data or the sbr to back up that claim?" to derail bullshit.

So I'll keep those two and can even make the others work for me, sometimes.

The thing is, that those who would live by these phrases can also die by them. It is all in the deployment.

And I like using this shit against them and seeing them sputter and turn red.

    That's me.

      made me chuckle.

Sometimes folks need to get off of their high horses.

Keep on with the appropriate deployment and thanks for the comment.

I've worked with mentally & physically challenged folks before as well, and while there is more internal reinforcement for data-driven practices within the field since good data does really = $$ saved, at times, there are always those superstitious people with enlarged egos standing in the way of good policy. good on you for putting them on the defense when you get the chance.
