    who ran seven points behind Johnson in 1964 as an incumbent. By 1970 he was in the same category as Chris Dodd in 2010 but he refused to retire so was primaried.

    Gonzalez represented a district that was the texas equivalent to East LA and Doggett represents Austin which is to TX as OC is to CA.

      South of the Nueces is already like East LA, at least in the color of its votes. San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas are quickly getting there, and it is inexorably spreading.

      Of course we are speculating as to what the future holds, but I see that Texas will get blue in a very progressive way as the demographics really take hold down the line.
