    in 1936, and not by climate change.  1815 was the year without a summer, caused by a volcano eruption. That wasn't climate change either, and wouldn't be if it happened again. If weather wasn't highly variable, nobody would bother keeping track of record highs, lows and similar statistics, just like you don't bother taking your own temperature unless you're ill.

    However most of the next 10 hottest years have occurred since 2000 or so. That indicates a persistent change in climate, as does the thermal physics of the atmosphere with increasing CO2 concentrations and warming oceans.

    My parents got married in March, 1936 in WI - March is usually a horrible month there and cold, but their wedding pictures show trees blossoming and nobody wearing a coat.
