    using local milk and cream and fruit,  and,  not only that!!!,  but then used the ice cream we made to make a Baked Alaska (merangue made with our own fresh eggs!!!)  in a wood-burning cookstove oven.  This remains my supreme achievement in cooking,  unsurpassed after almost 40 years.

    What they don't tell you about these hand-cranked puppies is that someone has to sit on it to keep it stable when cranking when the product gets really stiff at the end.
