    work for free, and many more would probably like to given the hiring situation for new attorneys, in district attorney and public defender offices hoping to be hired when the freeze ends.  Another common set-up is to be a (barely) paid clerk or intern, even though the person has a bar card, and then be sent up to court to appear on motions or arraignments and sometimes, even do misdemeanor trials.  This is what happens when there aren't enough jobs to go around.

    Long week...not well written, but hope you get the point.
