    You don't necessarily have to say "I'm sorry" or "I apologize" to show contrition or regret.  Now, of course the idea of an apology tour is far overblown, and the idea that Obama apologized for American values is downright ridiculous.  The question I'd have for King and Romney and the rest of them is, are they saying that America (or people representing America) has never in any circumstance fallen short of our ideals, and if they aren't saying that are they saying that that is something that can only be acknowledge privately, in quiet rooms as Romney likes to say, but can never be acknowledge in front of a foreign audience.  And further does he think that there's a significant group of people that were under the illusion that America is literally perfect, but were only disabused of that notion when Obama acknowledged that that is not the case, and that those are the people who have been protesting the last couple of weeks?
