    I understand that not wanting to pay taxes was a a common talking point among aspiring Messiahs in 1st C. Judea. Jesus' enemies wanted to get him in trouble with the authorities by asking about it. But he fooled them by not caring about money. Thus proving that he was a whole lot more revolutionary than all those other, forgotten Messiahs.
