    Not an expert and haven't read the study but everything I've seen on black carbon shows that it has equivocal climate effects, some warming and some cooling.  However, it definitely has deleterious effects on human health, principally women and children around the cooking site.  Reducing black carbon through the higher efficiency cookstoves has unequivocal economic and deforestation effects, less time gathering fuel, less fuel taken from the environment.  That is significant.  There is also evidence that removing black carbon can increase local crop yields.  

    Those things make sense whether the climate effects are real or not.
