  •  Rachel Maddow just covered this perfectly. (5+ / 0-)

She did a long piece on how often Mitt Romney says one thing and then his campaign comes behind him to correct it quietly without actually saying he misspoke or made a mistake.

    Examples:

Various ads that distort what the President actually said are still up and running on his YouTube ad campaign page, even though he has been called out about those ads being lies.
She then showed a clip of Mitt saying that anytime they have incorrect ads, they remove them or correct the record.

Romney was asked in a univision interview about whether or not he had met with Kris Kobach (wrote the "papers please" law in Arizona) and if Kris Kobach was a Romney campaign advisor. Later that same day, the campaign released a statement saying that yes, he had met with Kobach and that Kobach was, in fact, a Romney campaign advisor.

Romney on CBS saying that yes, abortion should be legal in the cases of rape or incest, or in the case of the health and life of the mother. Afterwards, a campaign spokesperson comes out and doesn't actually say Mitt misspoke, but says he DOES NOT support an exception to protect the health of the pregnant woman.

Romney's comments on Meet the Press about how he wouldn't get rid of all of healthcare reform, such as preexisting condition coverage. Later, his campaign says that no, actually, Mr. Romney is not in favor of a law requiring that coverage.

Romney on ABC says that his red line on Iran is the same as Obama's red line. His campaign then went back on that and blamed it on George Stephanapoulos, saying that Mitt was just trying to be agreeable and didn't actually mean that.

I mean, it's a joke at this point!! They just lie and lie and lie and think the American people are stupid enough to vote for him.
