She can't report on health issues because she's heavy?

That's like saying reporters lacking drivers license can't report on the new crop of cars every autumn.

That's like saying an alcoholic can't report on addiction issues.

That's like saying a childless reporter can't report on education, child health, daycare issues, etc.

    Get the picture?

i asked about her role on the news program.

      Is she doing it well?

The writer thinks that she is not (if indeed she is the health correspondent) because she has not lost weight. But her appearance aside does she provide good health reporting?

      I dunno.

And besides, the statements you made are not similar - one can become a subject matter expert without having taken part in it. Ezra Klein is pretty much the go to guy on health care but I wouldn't ask him to do my appendectomy. Someone can learn all there is to know about cars but before making a purchase I like to read from people who have test driven them.

We tend to take advice on practice from people who are good at those practices. I don't take her being fat as prima facie evidence that she is not a good health reporter. In fact, an overweight reporter could be an asset when talking about the troubles with dieting and the calorie-in vs calorie-out model.

If you aren't outraged, you are an idiot
