  •  Oh, yeah, right (0+ / 0-)

I know it bothers people to think about education on a real world basis, because many people get annoyed that they can't hammer down kids to fit into a system not designed to deal with individuality or diversity.

The idea that other people should sacrifice their own kids on your altar of public education just tells me you care more about the system than any kids.

Grow up. Do whatever you like with your precious little genius children. I'll continue to believe that you are thin skinned, and someone who hasn't put much thought into anything. My opinion, take it or leave it.

I deal with some of the same kind of people that the diarist describes. They aren't satisfied with finding the best for their kids. They spread rumors (lies) about the public schools. Get a drink or two into them and surprise, the bigotry and racism starts to show at the block party. God forbid their child should have to spend time with "those kind of children!" It's quite blatant. School discussion is the last place where it's ok to let your prejudices show. Because it's for the children, right?

I'm not saying it's a "liberal" thing (IME, it's not.) But it's not an imaginary thing. Many of my acquaintances who have chosen private education in this excellent public school district cannot be happy with simply picking the best choice for them; they also need to tear down the public schools.

to insist that all kids should be shoehorned into public schools because public schools can do no wrong, regardless of how badly a school may be failing a child, that somehow the schools will be better for the sacrifice of a child that the schools are not able or willing to help.
