..or whatever the number is, supposedly, you can chose to stay in the government plan or take a voucher. Why not let everyone have a choice if that's such a deal? Even old people?

And why wouldn't that be considered bigger government?

even with a "choice" system like that, knowledgable analysts agree that the insurance companies would soon siphon off the healthier individuals into their for-profit voucher plan, leaving the sickest and those with the most expensive care costs in Medicare.  With the deck stacked in that way...Medicare would fail and all that would be left would be the privatized voucher version.

    •  Paul Ryan is almost 43, Obama is 51... (0+ / 0-)

what sort of plan does Ryan expect for himself when it comes around, and what else has he socked away that makes him so confident in breaking the system for the rest of us?

What about Obama? He's definitely in the danger zone, unless he has other plans too. Can we hear from him more specifically about the under 54s, no 55s, no 60s, no wait...

You will have to buy into Medicare.  The voucher might not be enough, and you'll have to find more money.  As well said above, the insurance companies will skim off the better risks and leave the sickest for Medicare, raising its costs even more.
