  •  The thing is, they just don't get it at all. (7+ / 0-)

When you reach age 65, you are most likely no longer employed. Even if you have a retirement account to see you through the rest of your life, you still have expenses, the same expenses you had when you were just 64 and working. The thing is now your expenses remain the same, but there is no more salary coming in. To have guaranteed Medical Coverage, even it only 80% of it is covered, is not only a blessing, it is a necessity, and allows you to live out the rest of your years with some peace of mind. Not all people when they reach the age of 65 are worth 250 million dollars, or God knows how much Ryan is worth, and he will also get a nice cushy retirement package for the House of Rep, that our tax money pays for.
Statistics show that older people get sick more, their bodies are wearing down, and it happens. Health Insurance companies are in the business of making profits, so there is no way that a measly $6,000. voucher will pay for coverage, and unless Medicare is there for these folks, they will have nowhere to go. Are there any guarantees that the voucher they will give, and allow you to buy into Medicare will still give you the same quality of care or will it even cover the cost?  It is just wrong , all freaking wrong.
