  •  I usually have writers block, big time... (6+ / 0-)

... but last night I was doing a comment and the words kept flowing and the crystalization kept growing and I realized that I'd unintentionally written a diary :)

But like usual when that kind of uninterrupted flow just happens, it was past midnite, and I realized no one would see the diary if I posted it, so what the hell, just leave it as a comment..... until I discovered the new-fangled diary publication tool that lets you time when the diary gets posted.

So I set publication for morning, went to sleep, and voila! I wake up to this beautiful souffle :)

Thank you for the positive feedback. We all thrive on positive feedback. It nurtures our growth. It may even over time get me over my writers block ;) Thank you.

And I, ahem, will take a little credit as your muse, for it was to my comment that you wrote your beautifully worded analysis last night :) ;) :p

You are right about that positivity.  It's what keeps us all as people going, I think.  Scorn can be a motivator, but it need not be.

      •  Thank you, my muse !!!!! (5+ / 0-)

You did indeed inspire and provoke me to open a vein and let it flow out.

I feel better that I did.

The thoughts had been bubbling up since the moments I was watching debate #1. I was in a room with over 200 Democrats at a watch party while I was visiting Santa Monica. I was struck by the reactions my fellow progressives were having to the flow of the debate, and engaged in conversations for hours afterwards. The hollywood/media-savvy folks (including someone who produces well-known documentaries) I ended up having the longest conversation with were very down on Obama's "performance". But as a someone who has won a few dozen awards in public speaking and debate in my earlier years, and had decades of long-view whole-systems eco activism experience, I pushed back in a way similar to this diary.

Conversational discussion and public speaking are so easy for me, but writing the very same ideas can be so so difficult. Worse yet, the process can feel so daunting that I almost never am willing to start it.

So I appreciate you being my muse last night, and I appreciate your positive encouragement this morning.

        Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    •  lovely diary. I hope the derailer near the top (7+ / 0-)

does not take too much of the satisfaction out of it for you. That commenter has a long and bad history.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? . . . and respect the dignity of every human being.
