people always voting AGAINT their own interests.  So Mittens wins, and takes away medicare and Americans are forced to dish out an extra $5-6K a year in their 60s and 70s for private insurance - DON'T COME WHINING TO DEMS TO FIX THAT IDIOTS!.  And don't come whining to Dems if your private insurance kicks you off because you got sick.  And don't come whining to DEMS to fix the fu** economy when Mittens takes us back to the Bush policies, and DON'T come whining to Dems to regulate Wall Street again when they cause another financial meltdown.  And DON'T come whining to Dems when a new war is started and thousands of our soldiers are killed.  and DON'T come whining to Dems Real Estate implodes again.  and DON'T come whining to Dems when Social Security is pushed back to 72 and you have to work an extra decade to retire.  DON'T COME WHINING TO DEMS EVER!  sorry...I really think Obama will win, but I'm venting now

"Don't vote for us" in an electoral system. Your message is a large part of why folks we should be winning aren't interested in our Party. They get that this is what is thought of them. They get that we'll implement NAFTA then yell at them for not voting for us. We'll make welfare harder to reach and let banks become megabanks, then scold them for failing to know where their interests lie. Yell about vouchers and privatization while whispering behind closed doors about cuts to COLA and the retirement age, then call UnSerious anyone who thinks we should leave their benefits alone.

There's no question that on balance our Party is significantly better than the alternative. But the vast majority of people don't have time to weigh the entire discussion on balance and they do not have a media willing to give an accurate assessment of the choices we face. So you can't really blame them for seeing this consistent message of yours (what is wrong with you people? just give us your votes and shut up already) and tuning out to whatever else is on offer.

"The Democratic Party is not our friend: it is the only party we can negotiate with."
