  •  Excellent diary, (3+ / 0-)

drawing from several sources, including last night's debate, to make your point.

There is no question that if Romney/Ryan win the White House, and they successfully implement their economic plan, the US economy will tank.

I understand why the extremely rich are behind Romney, and we have often discussed the reasons why poor and middle class conservatives support the GOP to their own disadvanntage.  But the truth is that, with the damage Romney would unleash on the economy, the rich will suffer economically as well.  True, there are vultures and coyotes who will profit on the losses of everyone else, but a fair number of the rich will lose money in a downturn.  So, in fact, it is actuallly to the advantage of the rich to support Obama as well!  Yes, they will have higher taxes, but would those be greater than their losses in a economic downturn?  Further, society will be more stable with a prosperous and growing middle class, and you would think that the rich would appreciate a stable society.

over 3 1/2 years seems like an excellent investment to me.  Why has it never been pointed out what the stock indexes have done during the Obama administration? The Republican vampires are all about their stock portfolios - they need to be reminded they lost 30-40-50% + under Bush II and they've seen practically a doubling under Obama.  And yet Rmoney pays 13% on huge gains while workers, who have seen their wages basically flat, if not decrease, are paying effectively double what Rmoney does.

getting too repetitive, especially using the President Clinton quote again (I've done several times in other diaries). But then I remember that no one reads everything here. In a way, I'm learning and sharing the process I'm going through to understand what's going on.
