  •  Milbank Is Conservative (6+ / 0-)

I knew Dana Milbank well in highschool and for years after - we were friends editing the school newspaper. Dana is psychologically conservative, in the sense that he defends the club that he's in. That's the Ivy Leaguer / incumbent club. He's against Ryan and Romney because they're insurgents to the Executive Branch, while Biden is among the old guard. Politics isn't as important to Dana as is his personal/professional social network.

This puts him solidly among the rest of professional journalists. It also is why we haven't been friends since the first Bush/Cheney term.

    •  The main lie that Milbank is objecting to: (0+ / 0-)

Paul Ryan is pretending not to be a Congressman.

Milbank really is focusing on the power networks here, not on the lies about policy.

Milbank's Establishment bias makes him madder that a Congressman would dis Congress, even the filthy Congress Ryan and his ilk have delivered, than the policies Ryan runs through Congress.
