Yertel McConnell had the nerve to compare Biden to Al Gore in 2000...
Actually, I made the same comparison in a GOOD way in a post last night.  I thought Al Gore in the first 2000 debate was a huge success and it was only his timid response to Rove's criticism in the second debate that gave Bush his chance.

Here's what I posted last night.

"it's always better to have people talking about how aggressive one guy was, instead of how defensive the other guy was."
Back in 2000, Al Gore CREAMED George W. Bush in the first debate.  He ran over him so badly that people actually felt sorry for George W. Bush.  Karl Rove and the other hangers-on claimed that this meant that Bush really won the debate.  Just as people tried to foolishly claim here that Obama won the first debate because Mitt was so rude.

    BULLSHIT.

Nobody wants to vote for the guy they feel sorry for who can't properly defend himself.  Nobody wants to put that guy in charge of the country.  Your mom might, if somebody was picking on their, but most candidates's moms have only one vote.

If Gore had gone into the second debate ready to continue the hammering, he might have become president.  Instead, his dumbass debate prep advisors told him to chill and be nicer to George.  So Gore seemed like he was on Xanax in that second debate, Bush got to shine as the nice personable guy everybody wants to have a beer with, and Gore lost the second debate on charm.

What Obama needs to do in this first debate is 1) Don't let Mitt control the debate.  There are no votes for being the polite guy.  And 2) Crush Romney personally.  The guy is a serial liar who acts like he has a multiple personality disorder, changing his position from one minute to the next, without any core character or convictions.

Attack him on THAT.  Not his policies.  His policies are bullshit.  Romney will just deny that whatever you say is his policy and then go on the attack.  Republicans won't care that Romney is lying because he's their hometeam boy; they want his lies to work.  The moderator might ask questions about policy, but Obama's answers should be about Romney's lack of character.
