I don't mean on style but content and tactics: challenge - respectfully but firm - Romney's lies and don't let him get away with it like in the first debate.

    •  Rmoney didn't get away with anything (7+ / 0-)

Obama answered the Medicare lie.  Just because Rmoney kept saying it doesn't mean shit.  Every newspaper in the country outed that lie.  Obama had a choice in the debate:  waste his time doing what newspapers and website were going to do in the morning, or USE his time to talk about his plans.  While he seemed tired and sluggish, the information was good.

Go read a transcript of the debate.  I've been passing that out because when Rmoney's screeching isn't distracting, the debate is much different.

Which with hindsight was a terrible tactical choice not too do it. But as often happens is sports, when you play for a draw and don't take risks, you often lose.

Unfortunately people don't read debates, they watch them.

        •  I am not claiming (0+ / 0-)

11 dimensional chess, but in hindsight I think the Obama/Biden team got themselves, in a good position.

If you want to nail Romney to an extreme RW position, Ryan is the person to pin down.

After Obama's debate performance, the lw was screaming for a brutal take down of Ryan.
If Romney wouldn't have behaved like the bully, I think there would've been a lot of hand-wringing on this site, about the brutal take down of Ryan. But now we wanted blood, and all the media hype made the  VP debate more important.

Ryan's take down as an extremist, can be transferred to "Moderate Mitt", and the demands to the President to be more agressive, should give Obama some leeway to tear into Romney in the next debate.
