than NOM surrogate Jennifer Roback Morse over at the Ruth Institute:

One group of people that I particularly want to call your attention to is the group of people who experience same-sex attraction as a permanent part of their personalities. Some of those people choose to describe themselves as 'gay' and identify with that attraction, but what I want to say is that that is a decision, to identify with the attraction. In effect, it’s a very momentous decision, but I am sure in a room this size there are people who know people who are struggling with same-sex attraction.

What the Catholic Church teaches is very simple, that they can be saved, but they have to live a life of chastity — and that God does want them to be saved. In fact, their same-sex attraction can be their personal path to holiness. That can be the thing that gets them to Heaven: dealing with that, dealing with it in a good, and decent, and wholesome way.

See, Morse would just be satisfied if we lived a life untouched by love or companionship. Rickie is crediting us with the end of civilization and his own flimsy marriage.

that my mom's agonizing death from cancer was a good thing.  If she were devout enough and offered up her suffering, she'd zip right off to heaven.  Yeah, they lost me after that one.  Now, I only show up when they pay me to be there (organist and choir director).

Santorum has invented one like that for himself.

I have lots of complaints about the bishops of the RCC, but I don't assume that all priests follow those heartless criminals nor do I assume that most parishioners have become as cruel as Rick Santorum is.

If religion helps you feel better, that is your choice. If you use religion to make others feel worse, you are evil.

Rick Santorum and the Roman Catholic bishops are evil.

The GOP is the party of mammon. They mock what Jesus taught.

      •  I am so sorry. (0+ / 0-)

My 94-year-old dad is convinced he's facing eternal damnation because he's a divorced Catholic.

But the spiritual leader who said that about your Mom...that just makes me weep.

    •  I'm still snickering at the (0+ / 0-)

association of christian counselors, or whoever they are, who put out guidance documents promoting "biblically proscribed sexual behavior," without bothering to look up "proscribed" in a bloody dictionary.

oh, here it is (PDF WARNING). They still haven't fixed it.

It's been a hundred years, isn't it time we stopped blaming Captain Smith for sinking the Titanic?

      •  I've seen that typo (0+ / 0-)

elsewhere, but you must have found the best possible place for it. g

(I saw a comment elsewhere, yesterday, where they used 'approbation' as if it were a bad thing to have happen to someone. They should have looked it up first.)

(Is it time for the pitchforks and torches yet?)

    •  I thought Paul said it was better to get married (0+ / 0-)

      than to burn with lust?

Now I am thoroughly confused. Maybe Corinthians isn't really, a "real" book in the Bible.
