Support for abortion is strongly positively associated with education. This poll includes education not income but they are strongly correlated.

For 2005-2009, 35% of college graduate women favor legal under any circumstance vs. 28% for HS grad and 18% for HS grad or less.

    •  Well, that's a different argument. (3+ / 0-)

One can have very high education and median income. Like teachers or nurses.

Look at it from the perspective of household income and traditional marriage and that's where you find the female component of the pro life movement: upper income married women.

There's an old Pew study that looked at this. I'll see if I can find it.

to see. I tend to think of opposition to abortion among women as occurring mainly among evangelicals (or sometimes Catholics). In general that would be married and white, but I would tend to think more often middle to lower middle, income-wise.

Fairly well-off white women for the most part are not happy with the idea of their pregnant teenage daughters having their future educational options cut off, kwim?

religious lines that the women most opposed to abortion are Evangelicals and the more conservative Catholics.

I will be interested to see a study where religion is not the only factor influencing anti choice women.

can afford to travel to another state, even another country if they get knocked up.  It's a case of "I've got mine".
