  •  that moment was ferocious! (7+ / 0-)

listening to it, it was amazing to have a politician stand up and, you know, fight for Democratic values.  Here's hoping the President is reviewig that tape.

the part of Biden is that, although he was devastating, he accepted the rightwing premise that the debt is the source of the economic collapse. NO. The debt did not cause the collapse. The collapse came from the bubble in the housing market and the deregulation of the banks.

      •  The reality is (0+ / 0-)

that very few politicians and/or pundits do an adequate job of explaining what caused the "Great Recession" or talking in sufficient details about its effects (as I stated in another comment, the ramifications were multiplicative not additive), so in response to Romney & Co.'s talk that the Obama Recovery has been too slow, someone needs to say (like Bill Clinton did in his convention speech), WTF???!!!!  We were losing 700,000 jobs a month when the recession started----700,000 jobs a month. It is not systemically possible to recover that amount of job losses in 3 yrs (without avoiding yet another bubble, which is what we have been doing for the last 10 yrs or so)...This is not to let the Obama Administration off the hook for anything that they shld have done (like extract more concessions from the banks in exchange for TARP funds and/or the lack of substantive assistance to underwater home owners), but the right's criticism (excuse me for my language) is bullshit.

And the reality is that they know it.

        •  Well there is a portion of them that know it. This (0+ / 0-)

is the problem when your propaganda machine is as well tuned as the gop's. You start spewing bullshit and soon your followers believe the bullshit and then the leaders believe the bullshit and before long you don't have the faintest idea what the truth is anymore.
