    My bad experience came when I lived on the main street of a small city.  We rarely kept the gate open because of the constant foot traffic. My young child chased the teenager for quite a while, but couldn't find them.  I'm glad, they might have hurt him too.  

    In the village I felt safe again, and there was some stubborn egg on the brick, so I knew that kids would trick if they didn't get treats.  I gave away a lot of budget candy, making my best effort to save the skittles for my H.S. students. It was safer because there were so many parents with their kids and almost every house on the street participated, lots of lights, lots of eyes.
