  •  ER's worst place to go (12+ / 0-)

for any kind of care.  I have to work 2 jobs 7 days a week just to pay my basic living expenses.  Here in Los Angeles at County USC the last survey they did on the wait times for that ER was between an 18 to 24 hour wait time!

If you have to work your ass off there is no way you can sit in a hard plastic chair that long.

There was yet another free clinic in LA last week given by Care Harbor.   As soon as it was promoted on the local news people went right down to the LA Sports Arena and started camping out.   The day they were set to hand out wrist bands we were right in the middle of a heat wave, it was more than 100 degrees and people stood in line for at least 8-10 hours in direct sunlight.

Even though many uninsured and poor are that way due to unemployment and disability I would say an equal number of uninsured work their asses off like me and simply don't have the time or energy to wait that long.

And now I know that hospitals that get federal funds are supposed to use so much of that on charity care for their patients - of all the times I've sought care I never knew that, it was never addressed at all at both USC and UCLA. Not a peep that they actually have/or are supposed to have funds for the uninsured.

Mitt and Marie Ann-tionette need to get their butts to an inner city ER that serves the uninsured and see for themselves.   I betcha no matter what pitiful story they hear, neither will reach for their checkbook, just put on those plastic vacuous smiles.

My bumper sticker says "If Romney Wins I Will Die" Evil lady at gas station laughed at me saying"He's going to win where do I send the flowers?" She laughed at me/to her the uninsured are funny-ArtemisBSG 2012
