  •  We need a very big Dem turnout in the (12+ / 0-)

"safe" blue states--even the ones with no tight statewide contest.

This is what I dislike about the battleground strategy. I understand it, but it gives our Dems in "safe" states the idea that their vote does not matter. It encourages the (most irritating) idea -- a la Nader in 2000 -- that, since my vote doesn't matter, I can make a protest vote, "vote my heart" instead of the lesser of two evils," or even stay home.

Further, it looks like the campaign is no longer asking for the votes in the "safe" states. Of course, that's where we come in.

This morning, Ed Rendell suggested that PBO could win the Electoral College, but lose the popular vote. That's a mandate killer, a coattails killer, a CT generator.

    We cannot afford that victory!

    •  We have so much to do in Michigan... (10+ / 0-)

...to rid ourselves of the tea party Republicans that have infested our legislature that, no matter how "safe" Michigan is for President Obama, we MUST get Democrats out to vote.

      And:

      • Defeat Prop 1 to repeal the Emergency Manager Law
      • Pass Prop 2 to enshrine collective bargaining protections in our state constitution
      • Pass Prop 3 to increase the amount of energy we get from renewables to 25% by 2025
      • Pass Prop 4 to protect home healthcare patients and their providers
      • Defeat Prop 5 which requires a 2/3 majority vote in Congress for ANY tax increase
      • Defeat Prop 6 which fills the pockets of a billionaire bridge owner through his purchase of a constitutional amendment

This isn't just about the President but his ground operation is the means to the end.

    •  Started phonebanking this week in California for (6+ / 0-)

my local Democratic Club & County Party.

My Congressional district has a very good chance of going from Red to Blue for the first time in thirty years. There are some gawd-awful initiatives placed on the ballot by one-percenters that need to go down. And we may even crack the 2/3 ceiling in the legislature and get some revenue bills passed.

PBO has our electoral votes sewn up, but it would be a nice boost for the local Democratic "brand" if we can deliver our purple ex-urban county for him too.

      Have you noticed?
      Politicians who promise LESS government
      only deliver BAD government.
