  •  The worst part of the storm for Romney is (13+ / 0-)

the way it puts his (and his fellow Republicans') policies in stark relief and shows them to be terrible.

--Public workers are lazy, greedy villains who do nothing to help people

--FEMA is a "luxury" we can't afford.  It must be cut (along with the entire safety net) to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

--States--no matter their fiscal straits--or even better, the private sector would do the best job of handling disasters

--Global warming is a subject for humor and mockery, rather than a real threat.  Also, it has nothing to do with helping "your family."

--You should vote for the person who is a white Republican, even if he lies, offers no concrete policy details, has no common touch, and associates with grifters and thugs.

It would not be appropriate for Romney to insert himself into disaster mitigation efforts.  He could engineer a real program of relief if he chose, in lieu of campaigning.  But he doesn't have a clue how to do it, and has no real heart in any case.  Watching President Obama's competence in action, especially in contrast with the hapless, optics-only performance of the Romney crew, is all the comparison the country should need to make their decision.

"My dear friends, your vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union." ---Representative John Lewis
