I'm up... I'm kind of awake. It's 56 degrees supposed to go up into the low 80's again today. Woke with my back in spasm from my neck to my butt this morning. So I'm sitting here doing slow stretches trying to get it to unbind before I attempt to walk into the kitchen.

Noddy, I agree, you should find an ISP you can switch to, and even if you don't actually switch, threaten to. Even if it's something like Clear or a Satellite ISP. Satellite tends to come with a cap, but if you can't download any video right now anyway that would likely still be an improvement.

and there's no other ISP in the area unless I buy individual mobile broadband - and even there, we're in a black-out zone for most ISP providers.  Even though I now have an AT&T cell phone (I have several thousand roll-over minutes built up on it already!), I can't use it to purchase mobile broadband for my netbook and Roku as our city has a monopoly contract with someone else.

A satellite dish is not a good possibility for several reasons, not least is my proximity to a football stadium.  I have a neighbor who had satellite for a while and discontinued it because the electronic "noise" generated by the football stadium caused static and black-outs on her satellite. When the stadium wasn't causing issues, the wind was.  She said they paid for the service for 3 months, then paid the penalty to have it taken out because they could hardly use it. No one around here has satellite service.

This is another reason I'm looking to sell my house and move somewhere else.  When I do move, believe me, checking the ISP will be near the top of the list of requirements, along with backyard barnyard regulations, composting regulations, and gardening restrictions.  It seems like the house itself hardly matters!
