my day tomorrow will be 17 hours at the polls.  I did not work the previous presidential election so I have nothing to compare it to, but we have the entire town at one site, with two set of poll workers and one machine.  It will be crowded, I think, but the line moves fast.  We have been trained to get rid of disruptive poll watchers and I will extend that to disruptive voters.  I plan to check outside too, for electioneering.

I live in a red area of a blue state, but the reds have had issues (a tied primary and scandals) and the blues have really been working to get out the vote.  If enough of the dems come out (come on you college kids!), we can get three very good dems elected.  A lot of the folks here have been trained by DFA, and they started early!  These skills work for local, state and congressional races, not just President.  There is a party, but I will be too tired to go!

What makes the store Caedy works at so vulnerable? Is it because it is open 24 hours?  You would think that the management would re-think that given how expensive the liability insurance must be for those 24 hour places with a history of robbery.  I'm glad that no one was hurt.

They're right around the corner from a hospital though, and so they do get a lot of business overnight, between staff and starving patients/families leaving the ER at all hours. It's a corporate owned store, and many of those here are 24 hours, especially in tourist areas (though this one isn't tourist so much as hospital and right off a major highway). I just hope we hear back from the place up north where we want to move to, so we can get her out of there.
