  •  Here in Canada, employers are REQUIRED to ensure (7+ / 0-)

    That every employee has at least a 4 hour block of time in which to vote. Polls are open from 8am to 8pm everywhere in the country. I am not saying that everything always works perfectly, but at least it is a level playing field from coast to coast. People running elections are non-partisan.

      there is a rule in my state that an employer must give an employee two hours to vote at the beginning of the polling day, but only if requested.

      polls open at 7am in Massachusetts.  so if you are supposed to be at work at 7am, your boss is required to allow you to come in as late as 9am in order to have a chance to vote.
