    If you want some "Both sides do it!", you would have to look for the ANSWER! rallies, at which people would be encouraged very strongly to stay for the interminable speeches.  Even then, you could leave the speech and come back in time to catch the bus home.

    It's also unlawful confinement, which is a felony in most states.  The people responsible are flirting with time in prison.

      The people responsible are the Secret Service.  It was a security thing, related to the arrival of the candidate and the people who wanted to leave in the same area.

      Judging from the tweets of one rational person, the whole thing was resolved in an hour or less.

      Go look at the tweets of @AshleyRParker who talks about people being cold and angry and wanting to leave, then explains what happened and says it took a little while to sort out.

      Felony?  Seriously, this is ridiculous.  The people ramping this up to the "trapped" "hostage" and now "felony" level are just ridiculous and doing no favors to anybody.
