  •  My mother and her grandmother were the only R.s... (6+ / 0-)

in my family.  My grandparents came of age right at the beginning of the Depression.  They understood what caused it.  My grandfather became a Teamster and my grandmother married young, and down the first time.  He worked six months out of a 13 year marriage.  She worked her butt off, as a maid, dishwasher, and even picking cotton, cucumbers and prunes.  She even had to send her baby to live with her mother because she couldn't feed him and they were living under a tree. Eventually she saved enough to go to cosmetology school.  By 1938 she had saved up the down payment for a commercial space for a beauty shop with a big back storeroom she turned into a makeshift apartment.  Their stories taught me well.  I married a Laborer's Union member.  My son's birth was paid for by Laborer's insurance.  I've always voted a straight Dem ticket, but if they don't stop being Republican Lite in a misguided effort of "go along to get along," I may have to jump ship.

Obama's actions have by and large been farther to the right than Ronnie Baby, The Patron Saint of Republicans.  The mean-spirited tone of the Teapublitards this election cycle has really been upsetting.  All the money pouring in thanks to Citizen's United has us quite literally at each other's throats.  My own Republican't mother actually un-friended me on Facebook!
